Dual Dartboard Levels Competition for Handicapped Dart Players

In Information by Dustin Shaw

Wheelchair darts is played the same as the traditional game of darts except the height is adapted and recognized worldwide as an official height for individuals who use wheelchairs.

The Winmau World Disability Darts Association World Masters (Disability Championship) first event took place in 2014 as a demonstration event following a long campaign to review the dartboard height for wheelchair players. The World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) finally gained approval from the World Darts Federation (WDF) and British Darts Organisation (BDO) for the reduce dartboard height for wheelchair players of 137cm (4 feet 6 inches).

The Dual Dartboard is designed explicitly for wheelchair dart players and standing dart players to compete directly against one another from the same oche down the same lane on one dartboard but at different targets with no moving parts. However, the sleek design offers more opportunities for more dart players to enjoy the game such as someone’s child and little people.

The Dual Dartboard has two dart target areas to accommodate both standing players and wheelchair bound players. When properly mounted, the top dart target will be 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) from the ground to the center of the bullseye and the bottom dart target will be 4 feet 6 inches (137cm) from the ground to the center of the bullseye.
The Dual Dartboard design can be used in making both Soft-tip dartboards and Steel-tip dartboards.

Opportunity!

Dual Dartboard is a patented invention and is ready to be licensed by a company/business/organization that can see the need and the potential of it being used worldwide for both steel-tip and soft-tip dartboards. The American Disability Act requires public places in America to make sure that a person with a disability can access the businesses’ goods or services. This includes darts and the design of the Dual Dartboard makes an accessible dartboard possible without using anymore real estate than the old dartboard. The unique design also makes it easy for wheelchair bound dart players to join worldwide online leagues. Plus, the Dual Dartboard design allows for more darters and new darters to enjoy the game, making a need for more Dual Dartboards.

The design is not just needed in commercial businesses around the world, it is needed in the residential market in a major way too! All darters play at their home and/or other people’s homes.
